McKinney Capital, a privately owned business group focused on field services industries in the Southeast United States, announced the hire of Tom Surtees, the current Commissioner of Labor for the state of Alabama. Mr. Surtees will serve as Operating Partner for McKinney Capital beginning in July. In this role, his early projects will include due diligence reviews of acquisition candidates, analysis and monitoring of insurance programs, monitor safety programs and performance, and leadership development training.
“We are extremely excited to have Tom join our ranks. He brings a unique background with his service at two Cabinet level posts for the Governor of Alabama over the last ten years,” said Tommy Burleson, Chief Financial Officer at McKinney Capital.

“I am pleased to join McKinney Capital and it is my hope that my years of experience in the private sector and service to the state of Alabama will prove to be an asset to the company,” said Surtees. “I look forward to helping this wonderful family-owned company grow.” Read more from the Birmingham Business Journal here.
